sophieisgod: (Lupin)

Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] bishwop

Put the books in order from favorite to least favorite: 7, 3, 6, 5, 4, 1, 2 (why does everyone seem to like 2 less than 1? I dunno, maybe because 1 is so OMG! with all the "wow, magic" stuff. Hmm)
How many times have you read the series: Um.. lots. I've read each book at least twice when I've bought it (DH thrice and counting). And then I try and reread in the runup to a new book. And then sometimes I'll be in the mood for some Marauder stuff, so I'll read PoA, and sometime's I'll just go through picking out plots or subplots that I love, like Tonks and Lupin. And sometimes just if it's raining.
Favorite chapter from your favorite book: "The Prince's Tale", I suppose, just because of all the Snape/Lily angst, and the HARRY IS A HORCRUX reveal and just, guh. Although, I also adored "The Forest Again", with the all the weeping. And "The Battle of Hogwarts", just for the title.
5 Favorite Characters: Lupin, Ron, Neville, Fred&George, and, after Deathly Hallows, Harry. Also, shout out to Ernie Macmillan: I'm not sure why I love him, but I do. And Snape and Sirius, for having so much soul-destroying angst. I am cheating my ASS off at this meme, aren't I?
3 Least Favorite Characters: Well, this is tricky, because everyone EVIL is pretty much an awesome character. So, Umbridge (horrible toad that she is), Pettigrew (for being such a fucking trecherous weakling) and, um, Dolohov, for likely killing the Prewetts AND Lupin and possibly Tonks.
Favorite member of the Trio: Ron. Always Ron.
5 favorite quotes: Or, five humungous chunks of the books. Whichever.
1. "There was a clatter as the Basilisk fangs cascaded out of Hermione's arms. Running at Ron, she flung them around his neck and kissed him full on the mouth. Ron threw away the fangs and broomstick he was holding and responded with such enthusiasm that he lifted hermione off her feet.
'Is this the moment?' Harry asked weakly, and whne nothing happened except that Ron and Hermione gripped each other still more firmly and swayed on the spot, he raised his voice. 'OI! There's a war going on here!'" DH - It's all about the context. Promotion of Elvish Welfare got Ron lucky.
2. "'Well said!' barked Ernie Macmillan, who Harry had been expecting to speak long before this. 'Personally, I think this is really important, possibly more important than anything else we'll do this year, even with our OWLs coming up!'
He looked around impressivley, as though waiting for people to cry 'Surely not!'" OotP - ♥ Ernie. See also: pirouetting leap into hoop and subsequent momentary delight during Apparition lesson, HBP
3. "'I am not worried, Harry,' said Dumbledore, his voice a little stronger despite the freezing water. 'I am with you.'" HBP
4. "A chilly breeze that seemed to emanate from the heart of the Forest lifted the hair at Harry's brow. he knew that they would not just tell him to go, that it would have to be his decision.
'You'll stay with me?'
'Until the very end,' said James.
'They won't be able to see you?' asked Harry.
'We are part of you,' said Sirius. 'Invisible to anyone else.'
Harry looked at his mother.
'Stay close to me,' he said quietly." DH
5. "'It's different,' said Lupin, barely moving his lips and looking suddenly tense. 'Bill will not be a full werewolf. The cases are completely -'
'But I don't care either, I don't care!' said Tonks, seizing the front of Lupin's robes and shaking them. 'I've told you a million times...'
And the meaning of Tonks's Patronus and her mouse-coloured hair, and the reason she had come running to find Dumbledore when she had heard a rumour someone had been attacked by Greyback, all suddenly became clear to Harry; it had not been Sirius that Tonks had fallen in love with after all...
'And I've told you a million times,' said Lupin, refusing to meet her eyes, staring at the floor, 'that I am too old for you, too poor... too dangerous...' HBP

Which character you'd ask to the Yule Ball: I'll steal [livejournal.com profile] bishwop's answer and say 'Young Lupin. OMG. *dies at the thought*' And I can't split up any True Love couplings, so I'll take George and he can sweep me off my feet.
Which character you'd like to use a love potion on: Tsk, that's no way to make someone fall in love with you. I would use Polyjuice Potion, so that Ron would think I was Hermione and then ravish me thoroughly.

Anything is better than the OotP hair!! I would love to go back to PoA 'do if he's going to go short. LOL Apparently, I actually think about this!

Ohh, it's great. Takes bloody hours and you have to look stuff up. Magnificent. It fills up all the time and gives you something to do other than rereading obsessively, while being a cover for rereading obsessively. So, when your mother says "What are you doing, are you reading and crying at the same time?" you can say, with great dignity, "No, I am merely memeing."

Except I get the advantage of looking at your answers to help prompt my answers. I have most of it filled out, except I still need to look up exact wording for quotes and such.

Wily. I had to carry all my books downstairs in a stack with my chin on them, so I hope you appreciate my labours.

Oh, I do. Also word about Erie Macmillan. "It's not just the weirdos that support you." Or whatever.

Ohh, and in HBP where he 'rashly' decides to concoct his own potion and gets rather flummoxed!

I forgot to squee before, but Oliver Wood! I loved him so hard in the Philosopher's Stone movie... Ohh, question, actually. Was it only the title of PS that got changed over there, or was it *every* reference to the stone?

ME TOO. Except, we didn't get quite the insane fanatic of the book. Which I loved. When he showed up at the Battle with the rest of the old team, I got MAD nostalgic.

And every reference to the stone was changed. Earlier editions of the early books I think changed some of the terminology entirely.

Ahh, book!Wood was.... focused, to say the least. "Get the Snitch or die trying!" and all that jazz. And the diagrams! I had forgotten the diagrams. *fondly remembers the diagrams* Although, being about 13 at the time (was PS 2001?), I liked film!Wood because he was cute and Scottish and wore flattering jumpers. And he never got to win the Quidditch Cup!

The team! Although Angelina makes me sad, because in my head she was going to marry Fred and have mischevious children with ginger cornrows (because that is of course how genetics works), and now she can't.

That is baffling. Why would someone even think to do that?

Oh man. I remember those days. Quoting Oliver Wood was as common as quoting F&G. My friend and I discussed that sweater for an entire week at lunch. Everyone else at the table wanted to kill us.

Let us remember that Fred was going after some French veelas in DH. But one could argue that they were veelas, so he might not have been in his right mind. Personally I was hoping for Lee Jordan to finally get Angelina. It must have been rough being BFFs with F&G.

Because some publishers are stupid.

I just went hunting for Woody gold... Gotta love the 'old manic glint' in his eye! And his Firebolt lust, and bulging eyes and lockjaw and trying to drown himself in the showers...

You can't see all the jumper, but it's better than nothing

They didn't dub it out in the films, did they?

My personal favorite Wood moment is in the 3rd book where he's going on about how great the team is and then as an afterthought goes: "And me." And then F&G proceed to laud him.

No. It was just the early editions of say, the first 3 or 4 books. Actually, it's funny because I have 3 copies of PoA, a British copy, an early American copy, and a more recent American copy and the text of the Brit and later American copy match up.

But wait, do they actually say Philosopher's Stone in the British movies? Because they say Sorcerer's Stone in the American ones.

They do! Awww, can you imagine Columbus making them shoot all the scenes with that phrase in twice, when they were all tiny and unable to act? Wow, you have seen performance gold that I shall never ever see.

Also, I saw OotP again yesterday... It was emotional.

Also also, ENCYCLOPEDIA! FUCK YEAH! And Jo was going to kill Mr Weasley in OotP!
