Sunday night, 2136 hours approximately. Maloney's cocktail bar. An anguished wail is heard from the booth in the corner.

"Fuuuuuuck! Northanger Abbey! I forgot to put the tape in!"

Having been understandably distraught at my own unforgivable negligence, I turned to trusty YouTube to ease my pain, hoping merely for a smidgen of a clip so I could see JJ Feild being hot. Imagine my delight to find some lovely person (janeeyre112, provider of many luscious TobyLove clips reet back in autumn!) had uploaded the entire thing. However, this did not stop me cheating and watching the kiss first.

Anyway, having now watched the whole thing in the intended order, I shall now proceed to offer what opinions and bits of fluff are rattling round in my head.

Felicity Jones and JJ Feild were utterly adorable together. I haven't actually read the novel (soon to be remedied) but from the responses I've read elsewhere it seems the adaptation got the chemistry pretty spot on. And even if it isn't like the novel, it's still bloody gorgeous. The face-touching scene in the trailer most certainly did not disappoint... And the kiss! Eep, is all I have to say about that. Well, no it isn't, it was a bit luffly. With the awkwardness, and the hands (the hands!) and then the general hawtness of it all... Swoon. An JJ Feild makes eating soup sexy. How? How does he do this?

Carey Mulligan was pretty damn good aussi. It makes a nice change to see her playing someone a little less innocent than her other roles. She gives good scheme. I still felt a wee bit sorry for Isabella after the whole Captain Tilney affair, though. I find it hard to believe that Austen wrote that they slept together... Also, Cary Mulligan is going to be in Episode 10 of S3 Doctor Who! Yay!

John Thorpe had a funny shaped head and an oddly booming voice. Not much else to say, really. Although, the excessive cursing seemed slightly out of place. And Catherine's brother was played by the geeky priest from Chocolat, a fact that would have escaped my notice if my mother hadn't forced me to watch it at the weekend. I bloody hate that film.

So, in summary, yay for Andrew Davies! It is him adapting S&S, isn't it?

Okay, so now I am definitely going to crack on with my reading list. I think I might try and get Ivanhoe out of the way first... Ach, this always happens in the holidays. I haven't done *any* Italian yet or made any notable progress on my reading list. However, I did get an email from Gimpy Brian today, suggesting that, since we'll be talking a lot about slavery and abolition, everyone sees Amazing Grace. Well, you know, I'll do it for my course. But I won't enjoy watching Ioan Gruffud be righteous in a period costume, oh no I won't.

Persuasion on Sunday!

Ugh, Ioan and Romola in a period film? If I have to. =P =P =D It was good, I cried at the end. Enjoy!

YAAAAAY, I enjoyed NA so much, as well =D! JJ is ridiculously attractive in the most adorable way XD. Have you seen him in The Ruby in the Smoke?

That was the guy that played Roy in Robin Hood (2006) =D! I agree that the repetitive cursing was strange.

Why don't people wear bonnets anymore?

I loved Ruby in the Smoke! He was luffly in that aussi, and Billie Piper wasn't horrendously miscast! Shadow in the North is hopefully on over Easter... Have you read the books? If you haven't, I won't spoil you. If you have....

Hee. Although, I must admit, the main highlights of RH for me were Jonas' cheeky grin, Richard Armitage in black leather and eyeliner, and Allan A Dale..

I've still not managed to watch Northanger Abbey! I'm dying to. I do hope they put the bit where Catherine and Mr Tilney compare marriages to dances, it's lovely. I started reading Persuasion yesterday, too. You know, a bit of context for my Pride and Prejudice part of my course.

My books arrived yesterday, but so did my Evita cd. As a result, I've read naff all.

Yeah, I read about 2 pages of the introduction to Ivanhoe, and then put on the South Pacific CD and danced round the room. And cried. Again.

ISSUES!

I am currently biting my nails waiting for the Northanger Abbey torrent to finish downloading. I'm glad it's getting positive reviews. After the travesty that was Mansfield Park, I'm looking forward to something good. Well, travesty is the wrong word, but I kept trailing off and getting bored in the middle of it. Sort of like the book.

Amazing Grace was... amazing.

It was sort of meh, wasn't it? Ah well, this was much better. I can't vouch for the bookosity of it, though, and I was very much gratified for shallow reasons... Good luck!
