This series of Skins is really on a roll now, y/y? I thought this was a really lovely episode, and it really consolidated my love for JJ and Emily in particular. Seriously, EMILY! She got awesome really quickly; I greatly approve of her "want me back" bravery and quest for honesty. And I really liked the JJ/Effy scene; it felt like an acknowledgement of the "everyone loves Effy!" curse that's plagued this season, and there was a nice balance between her liking that because it gets her shit, and her despising that and despising everyone else because of it, because nobody really knows her at all.

Freddie is a tosser. I'm really sad that Cook/Pandora was not a lovely one-time thing. I love that Cook has Chris' old room. LOVE all the Debussy. And I thought the last shot of the episode was lovely; the whole episode we've heard how JJ wants to be 'normal' for his mum, and then she finally gets to see him being adorable with Emily, and the tears! MEEP.

I finally got around to watching Vicky Cristina Barcelona, and there's no point cutting my reaction because it goes like this: MY ALL-TIME NUMBER ONE FOREVER GIRL CRUSH REBECCA HALL, YOU ARE DIVINE. JAVIER BARDEM, YOU ARE HOT LIKE BURNING (the girl only knew him from No Country For Old Men and had to be convinced re: his hotness. JOB DONE). PENELOPE CRUZ, HOW SO FIERCE? SCARLETT JOHANNSON... NICE HAIR. Also, I really badly want to go back to Barcelona.

I'm still ploughing through my Empire Records fic for [livejournal.com profile] reel_merlin, and it would be great if you guys could fill out this poll so I've got a few extra bits of nineties nostalgia in my arsenal, just for ~flavour~ and shit.

I'm not completely sure whether I liked this episode or not. I did while watching it, but then I compare it to what I felt while watching episodes from the first two seasons and I feel as if there's something missing. However, I do agree with a lot of things you mentioned: the JJ&Effy scene was lovely, all the Debussy was very fitting, Emily was great and I really like what they have done with her character, etc. I didn't mind that the thing between Cook and Pandora wasn't just a one night stand or something like that. Actually, they are soso different that I'd love if they ended up together, hee. Oh, look at that, I sort of ship Pandora/Cook hah.

Like I said, I'm not completely thrilled about this season but at the same time I can't wait for the next episode... so there, heh.

I didn't like Vicky Christina Barcelona :/ I didn't mind it either, but I thought it wasn't that great. Javier was delicious though, yum.

Oh man, I would totally do the nineties poll, only I can never remember whether musical stuff happened in the nineties or early 2000's. ALAS. I think I might be able to do films and CRAZES, though (I do not play video games, so I am rather useless there. I recall Carmen Sandiego being quite popular, though?)!

Films
- The Lion King (BEST DISNEY FILM EVERRRRR)
- Titanic (I saw this one about four times in theaters, I think)
- Ever After (I adored this thing STUPID AMOUNTS)

Crazes
- Bop It (Maybe this was only an American thing? IDK)
- Furby (Those stupid things TOTALLY CREEP ME OUT now, but when I was a kid I wanted one sooooo bad. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WAS THINKING)
- Build-A-Bear Workshop (I think this was only an American thing too, ALAS. Short version: you get to construct your own stuffed animal, and outfit it, and shit. It took nearly an hour to get through the checkout line, I KID YOU NOT)

AHAHAHA, FURBY. Me and my sister had one each, and we ended up having to shut them in a cupboard because THEY WOULD NOT SHUT UP. My mother was thrilled.

Also, I am not so much having awesome story ideas as occasionally going "OMG HOW CAN I WORK IN AN ETCH-A-SKETCH". Ohh, [livejournal.com profile] reel_merlin, I wish I knew how to quit you and/or write more than a few hundred words a day.

I cannot do the poll without research, woman! I don't even remember if someone happened one or two years ago.

I agree on the fabulousness of the JJ episode. If Emily wasn't such a cool lesbian, I would ship her with JJ.

Iiiiiiii... really kind of ship Cook/Pandora a lot so my reaction to them in the hall was one of great glee. But, that's just me. And I kind of love them both seperately a lot and that whole Love Lockdown scene sold me forever. I am way too easy with ships in this show, apparently. Like when I ended up shipping Effy/Sid really hard after her episode last season, yeah. NEXT EPISODE LOOKS SO AWESOME. Liiiights and drugs and music and shit. I am powerless in the face of that shit, I'm not gunns even pretend I'm not.

I was only in year 3 when the 90s ended so my answers to the poll would be useless? Probably.

See, I love love loved the Love Lockdown scene, but I loved them as a one-time-only thing of beauty, if that makes sense? I DON'T WANT THOMAS TO BE HEARTBROKEN. Buuuut I am totally on the same page as you re:shipping Effy/Sid that one time. OH SHOW.

I SPENT WAY TOO LONG ON THAT POLL.

I can't actually recall any legitimately good 90s songs. All the even semi-good songs that I now associate with that time were actually from the early 2000s. Although, I think Muse was active back then, even if I was unaware of their existence at the time?

(What's funny is that just yesterday I saw a segment on the news about the 90s making a comeback. Something about a Seinfeld reunion, Michael Jackson, and Kenneth Starr. :\ )

I FEEL LIKE YOU WIL SYMPATHISE WITH ME WHEN I SAY THIS. Thanks to Easy Academy... I may or may not be caught in the middle of a downward spiral of love for The Brethern Jonai. Nicholas in particular and I RESISTED FOR SO LONG. I feel so weak for caving and I always kind of hated them before and I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME. UM, HELP?

Ahhh, the shame spiral. There's no hope. JUST EMBRACE IT, MY FRIEND. YOU WILL GET NO HELP FROM ME, ONLY ENABLING (http://delicious.com/sophieisgod/fandom%3AJoBros).

Nicholas is the best, by the way. HAIR!
