The HP MUSIC MEME
Jul. 25th, 2007 10:45 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Rules: Go to the music player of your choice and put it on shuffle. Say the following questions aloud and press play. Use the song titles and/or one to two lines from the song as your answers.
The questions are all HP (and HP:DH) related.
Note: Some of these didn't work so well with my eclectic playlist.
What do I think of DH?
Kate Bush, Running Up That Hill
It doesn't hurt me.
Do you want to feel how it feels?
Do you want to know, know that it doesn't hurt me?
Do you want to hear about the deal that I'm making?
You, it's you and me.
And if I only could,
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places
Heart this. It fits quite more with the book than it does with my experience of it, especially all the stuff in "The Forest Again". And I'm crying again. Excellent. I will never be able to read this book on public transport.
What do I think of the Epilogue?
Hmm, I got the theme from Shakespeare In Love... *shuffle*
Larrikin Love, Forever Untitled
Oh come all you people in your fields of gold,
well it's time they told the story of how a soul grows old,
and how a young boy grows up in a world that's cold,
and how our youth is stolen by these bearded fools,
Well, I love the epilogue, so this is slightly morbid, but some of it fits the story, I suppose. And I do like the song lots. If the universe was just I would have got something lovely and sappy and uplifting.
What do I want to say to JKR right now?
Another instrumental... The Embrace, from The Piano, by Michael Nyman.
I suppose that's fitting, I can just give her a great big hug.
What would JKR want to say to me right now?
Joy Division, She's Lost Control
Confusion in her eyes that says it all.
She's lost control.
And she's clinging to the nearest passer by,
She's lost control.
And she gave away the secrets of her past,
And said I've lost control again,
And a voice that told her when and where to act,
She said I've lost control again.
BWAH! I suppose I have got a little obsessed recently...
What do I think of OotP: The Movie?
The Decemberists, The Crane Wife 3
A gray sky, a bitter sting
A rain cloud, a crane on wing
All out beyond horizon
A grey sky, a bitter sting
And I will hang my head, hang my head low
And I will hang my head, hang my head low
Well, it did make cry rather a lot.
What should I do with my life now that I've finished reading all there is of canon?
Paul Anka, Wonderwall... This is the weirdest cover of anything I have ever heard, apart from The Flaming Lips doing Can't Get You Out Of My Head.
Today is gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you gotta do
That's not the most helpful or specific careers advice, is it?
What would I say to Harry Potter right now?
Iggy Pop, The Passenger
Get into the car
We'll be the passenger
We'll ride through the city tonight
We'll see the city's ripped backsides
We'll see the bright and hollow sky
We'll see the stars that shine so bright
Stars made for us tonight
Ah, that's nice. Finished saving the world, Harry? Healed all emotional wounds? Only one thing for it... ROAD TRIP!
What would I say to seven Harry Potters right now?
Queens of the Stone Age, First It Giveth
I'm in you
You're in me
I can't tell[...]
Loyal to
Only you
Up your sleeve[...]
First it giveth
Then it taketh away
Oh, this is quite sad. Because there's the stuff about loyalty, and losing people and ohh, this really is rather upsetting. Fred! And Tonks!
What would I say to Harry Potter in 2016/2017?
No Doubt, Hella Good
You've got me feeling hella good
So let's just keep on dancing
You hold me like you should
So I'm gonna keep on dancing
A performance deserving of standing ovations
And who would have thought it'd be the two of us
So don't wake me if I'm dreaming
'Cause I'm in the mood come on and give it up
Kinky. *substitues Ron for Harry*. Perfect.
What would Harry Potter say to me right now?
Duran Duran, The Relfex
So why don't you use it?
Try not to bruise it
Buy time don't lose it
The reflex is an only child he's waiting in the park
The reflex is in charge of finding treasure in the dark
And watching over lucky clover isn't that bizarre
Every little thing the reflex does
Leaves you answered with a question mark
Classic. That is magnificent.
What advice does [my favorite character] have for me? [That’d be Lupin, of course]
Howling Bells, The Night Is Young
Oh yeah, when I needed you to stay
You drove your car the other way
And oh me
Don't you worry about me
I got a pocket full of wisdom up my sleeve
And the night is young
*sob*
What advice does [my least favorite character] have for me? [Um, Umbridge?]
Dirty Pretty Things, You Fucking Love It
Just put your money in
Bruised and battered shins
You fucking love it
You fucking love it
Back on your feet again
Out on the beat again,
You fucking love it
Yeah yeah yeah
Well, that is very very wrong indeed.
How will I remember HP one year from now?
Nicole Kidman & Ewan McGregor, Come What May
Never knew I could feel like this
Like I've never seen the sky before
I want to vanish inside your kiss
Every day i'm loving you more than this
Listen to my heart, can you hear it sings
Telling me to give you everything
Seasons may change, winter to spring
But I love you until the end of time
Lovely and pathetic and a little excessive, but, in essence, true enough.
What do I think of the fandom today?
The White Stripes, Seven Nation Army
I'm gonna fight 'em all
A seven nation army couldn't hold me back
They're gonna rip it off
Taking their time right behind my back
Heh, I suppose some fandom can be... militant.
What will I think of the fandom one year from now?
Radiohead, My Iron Lung
Faith, you're driving me away
You do it everyday
You don't mean it
But it hurts like hell
My brain says I'm receiving pain
A lack of oxygen
From my life support
My iron lung
Fandom as life support... I like it.

Date: 2007-07-27 08:03 pm (UTC)Seven Nation Army... I'm now picturing an actual battlefield with, like, hundreds of thousands of militant Harmony shippers versus the Ron/Hermione people.

Date: 2007-07-29 01:57 pm (UTC)There's just so much about it that fits the character. Because he left us *sob* and he is wise and... I dunno, it's very bittersweet, which is a feeling I always assosciate with Remus. "Don't you worry about me"... That's so him, it's painful. He always handles his pain with such grace. Man, I love this character.
