Uggggh, I feel so disgusting. I'm getting some sort of wanky flu thing, and I can't skive uni because it's the last week of term (2 CONTACT HOURS LEFT EVER IN MY LIFE, WHAT WHAT), and I basically just spent the whole weekend in bed with Lemsip and Merlin. Good old Merlin and its charmingly ridiculous and beautiful cast. Good old video diaries. Good old commentaries. Yay Colin's cheekbones, etc. My eyes are killing me, though; I think when I'm home for Easter Week I'll see if I can wangle a visit to Specsavers or whatever, just to make sure there's nothing really wrong.

God, Skins was such a downer this week. The only people who appeared to be even vaugely happy were Emily and Naomi (hooray!). JJ yelling at Cook was horrible. Pandora and Thomas were miserable. Katie was kind of disgusting. Freddie was his usual judgemental, hypocritical self. Effy was fucked up almost beyond recognition. SHE NEEDS TONY TO COME AND RESCUE HER; that shot of her and Cook in the car at the end was one of the most depressing things I've ever seen. Just, fucking hell. The episode looked gorgeous, though; all those trippy sparklers.

Meh. I've been watching with the girl, and she's quite into it, but it hasn't really gripped me so far, and I find a lot of it vaguely squicky. The second episode in particular was really uncomfortable - I actually felt sick when that client guy started hunting Echo with a bow and arrow. I'll give it a while longer (Oliva Williams, you are so fabulous!) and hope it raises its game, I suppose.

SHOW OF MY SOUL, I CANNOT BELIVE YOU ARE LEAVING ME ON FRIDAY. I thought this worked really nicely as a sort of "calm before the storm" episode; I loved the quasi-stillness of the flashbacks. It's so strange seeing Kara young and with Zak - I can't think of a time we've seen her with so little baggage. And poor, drunk Lee faffing about with a pigeon, and Roslin losing all her family. The most interesting flashbacks for me were the Gaius/Six ones; it's fascinating that that's what connected them, that she could see how helping him detach himself from his father and his past would be the thing that would make her special to him. In fact, I think Baltar was my favourite thing in the whole episode. I love how much he, as much of any of us, genuinely doesn't seem to know how much of what he says and does is bullshit. Do we think he's going to cross the line in the sand in the finale? OH SHOW. *clings*

Vid rec! It seems I am forever doomed to just rec everything [livejournal.com profile] obsessive24 does, but it's awesome stuff, so whatever. Slow Down Gandhi is a BSG vid (spoilers through 4.14) that focuses on the opposition to the Adama/Roslin Axis of Hardcore administration, and it tackles both the problems of the administration and the problems of the opposition. IT IS SO HARDCORE AND MAGNIFICENT AND IT GIVES ME FEELINGS OF RIGHTEOUS ANGER. Anyway. Also, if you haven't already you should watch her Love Lockdown, which is Gina/Cain. Yay femmeslash!

You guys, even with the extension until Wednesday, this SICKNESS has knocked me out so much that there's basically no way I'm going to have my [livejournal.com profile] reel_merlin finished on time. FAIL, SELF. I definitely am going to have to finish it, though, because a) I'm really having fun writing it, and b) [livejournal.com profile] lovestories already did the art, and it is so awesome that nobody should be denied it. So. Head down power through.

I, um, may also have downloaded the first episode of Stargate: Atlantis. Yeah.

How are you? ♥

OHH, EFFY/TONY. So fucked up and yet so awesome in the mutual savitude. I am all for moving on from the original characters and letting S3 stand on its own merits, BUT EFFY NEEDS TONY RIGHT NOW, DAMMIT.

Exactly. I mean, I feel as if -in the story- Tony coming to the rescue would be the natural thing to happen but I know it won't because of the whole old cast/new cast blah blah.
