Belated Oscars Reaction Post

I love this time of year. However, I do not love that the Beeb lost the broadcast rights to Sky Fucking One, thus preventing me from watching it live. I still remember the glory days of 2004, with the RotK cleansweep, and the Jack Black/ WIll Ferrell "You're Boring" song.

Anyway, things that made me happy:
Yay, Helen Mirren!
Yay, Forest Whittaker!
Yay, Marty!
Yay, Marie Antoinette costume designers!
Yay, Pan's Labyrinth winning lots of things!
Yay, LMS!

Things that made me less happy:
Where's the love for Children Of Men?
Will they ever give Peter O'Toole an Oscar?
Beyonce, ugh.
Happy Feet over Monster House? You suck, Oscar.

Also, they've turned off the water and I need a shower.

Me loves the Mac. And Mr. Owen.
You are definately coming tonight? I want to say I am definately coming but I am more like 90%. I ate leftovers for lunch which seemed a good idea at the time, but now my stomach is telling me that that was a very bad idea. How do you stop an exploding man?

[identity profile] sophieisgod.livejournal.com 2007-02-28 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Hana. Don't do this to me. Yes, I am definitely going. As are you. If you don't go, whom shall I cling to?

And I love The Mac more than is strictly healthy. Did you see Last King Of Scotland? Oh my. And Becoming Jane could be good, could he blasphemous, but I'll see it anyway. Such is the power of The Mac.

How do you stop an exploding man? If it's Peter Petrelli, by having sex with him.

Sadly have not seen Last King of Scotland. But I have no doubt that the Mac + Forest = awesomeness.

And I suppose that that would stop Peter Petrelli, but the reason I mentioned the quote was because that is how my stomach feels!!!! I will not be fit for any clinging if it does not improve!! (stupid leftovers).

p.s. Isn't Izzy up for any clinging?

[identity profile] sophieisgod.livejournal.com 2007-02-28 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Possiblement.

Please don't explode! Just how left-over were these dubious leftovers?
Obviously, don't come if you're dying/ exploded, but I haven't really seen you for aaages and 'twould be jolly nice to catch up. Apart from that time you waved at me and I didn't see you. Sorry about that.

[identity profile] thedreamygirl.livejournal.com 2007-02-28 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
They weren't very leftover which is why this is so annoying.
However considering the fact that I almost threw up I think it is (sadly) best that I stay away. I would love to cling but I wouldn't want to spew things on you as a result of the clingyness. Because that would just be gross.
It would be really nice to catch up though! We should try and do something before term ends (I promise I wont eat anymore leftovers)

Helen Mirren > all.

Why didn't Children of Men get more recognition? That was one of the most thought provoking films I've ever seen! Pfft. People.

Children Of Men was incredible. That tracking shot? Lord.

I think it did slightly better at the BAFTAs, picked up editing and possibly adapted screenplay, I'm not sure.

I do love Alfonso Cuaron, though. Have you seen Y Tu Mama Tambien?

[identity profile] darkangsty42.livejournal.com 2007-03-01 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Embarrassingly, I have only seen 3 Cuaron's films. Children of Men, Prisoner of Azkaban, (which to date is the only tolerable HP film) and A Little Princess, arguably the greatest film from my childhood. I sob like a baby every single time I watch it.

LOL, you do realize that in a real life we'd be BFF? :P
