I Do Love Me Some Of That Irish Mob

Okay, so due to a combination of persistent reccomendations and all-consuming boredom, I caved and watched the pilot of The Black Donnellys. And it's pretty damn good.

The basic premise is that these four Boston Irish brothers (named Jimmy, Tommy, Kevin and Sean... Stereotyping? You decide) get into scrapes. But, like, really hardcore scrapes. With heroin and guns and robbery and stuff. We have the badass brother, the slutty brother, the comedy fool brother and the good brother who will inevitably be dragged down by his other, naughtier brothers. Now, this may sound cliched and heinous, but the execution is slightly more subtle than it sounds.

Anyway, I pretty much liked all four of the brothers, and Jonathan Tucker is HAWT. I really do seem to have a thing for pale freckly guys. With cheekbones. Who may or may not be wearing blusher.

I also found this

And they used Arcade Fire. I heart it.

Didn't I tell you!
And John Tucker is so hot. Thank you for the link to the picspam. It is super lovely.

YAY!! Isn't it freakin incredible?!

Sadly the Arcade Fire was only used in the pre-air version of the pilot. The band wouldn't allow the show to use their song (more about that here) so it was replaced with a Snow Patrol song for TV.

It's set in New York, in fact, but thinking it's in Boston is a common mistake I've seen many other people make... I think it's the whole Irish thing that throws people. =)

*gasps* tasty. Tasty in extremis. I think I may need to watch this programme.
